A hole-in-one is the pinnacle of golfing achievement because it blends skill, precision, and a touch of luck into one unforgettable moment.

That moment was achieved by Martin Biles today at Billingbear Park on the 5th hole of the New Course.

Martin started having lessons at Pine Ridge last summer with Coach Martin Janssen, and since then has joined our Academy Away Days to build his experience and confidence on the course.

We're thrilled for Martin to have achieved this feat and will be celebrating with him at our next Academy Away Day next Saturday 30th August at Hoebridge.

If you want to meet some other new golfers, build your confidence on the course and celebrate Martin's hole in one then book on to our event by clicking the link below.

Cost is just £30, which includes green fee and prizes for Nearest the Pin and Fewest number of Putts!

Finding His Swing Again: A Return to Golf at Pine Ridge

Last week at Pine Ridge, I had the pleasure of working with a returning golfer whose story reminded me why we coach. A former junior member, now in his early 30s, he came in for an evaluation and follow-up lesson. He was motivated by the memory of his late grandfather, who introduced him to the game. He still carries his grandfather’s Ping Eye 2s, a timeless reminder of where it all began.

As always, we started with a conversation about goals, time, and what success really looks like. Every plan has to be personal and realistic.

We used the Foresight Quad launch monitor to establish a baseline. The data revealed a steep angle of attack, an out-to-in path, and an open face. Classic slicer territory. But behind the erratic ball flights was clear athleticism. He had the speed and power; it just needed direction.

Through targeted feedback and feel-based drills, we made fast progress. His club path shifted from 5° out-to-in to 4° in-to-out, the angle of attack shallowed to -4°, and his face angle began to close consistently.

The result? High draws, renewed confidence, and that unmistakable smile when it finally feels right again.

It was more than a technical fix. It was a reconnection with the game and with the joy that first brought him to the range.

Improving your wedge game is one of the quickest ways to play better golf. You don't need speed or strength, just consistency.

This week’s tip shows you how to control distance by matching your backswing and follow-through. Focus on 30, 50 and 100-yard shots, and your scores will start dropping fast.

Ever feel like you’re shifting off the ball during your backswing without even realising it? This may be because of how your shoulders are turning.

This week’s tip covers a simple check you can make to stay more centred and balanced throughout your swing. It might feel different at first, but the payoff in consistency is worth it.
